At the first showdown of the ADAC GT Masters and the ADAC GT4 Germany, both Aston Martin Vantage GT4s from PROpeak Performance performed well. In the seven sessions at the official ADAC test in Oschersleben, Germany, the 476-hp sports cars not only impressed with good lap times but also with reliability and good handling. “Both Vantage were running well, and we made good progress,” said Marion Englert, PROpeak team manager for the ADAC GT4 Germany. The #18 Vantage GT4 of Joerg Viebahn/Joonas Lappalainen (Germany/Finland) was presented for the first time in a noble white and black design, the #19 Vantage GT4 of Florian Thoma/Jérémie Lesoudier (Switzerland/France) in a striking orange-black design. Although lap times were of less importance, the entire team was pleased with the second best time of the three-day test set by Joonas Lappalainen (1:31.668 minutes) on the 3.696 kilometers long circuit of the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Less satisfied was the GT3 section of PROpeak Performance, which entered only one Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at this ADAC test for the four drivers Maxime Martin (Belgium), Daniel Keilwitz (Germany), Hugo de Sadeleer (Switzerland) and Valentin Hasse-Clot (France). Already at the beginning a defect in the area of the turbochargers – the reason was a small part, which had to be flown in – caused a loss of performance of the four-liter V8 engine, then a contact with the barrier meant the premature end of the first test day. “Even though the engine ran smoothly in the end and we were still able to try out a few settings, this test did not really help us to prepare for the upcoming start of the season,” said team manager Steve Buschmann.
On the other hand, team principal Christoph Esser could look forward to the team performance. “It was our first assignment in this workforce and with several new people, and the processes have worked quite well.” Above all, a good logistics was in demand, because one of the three trucks with the two GT4 Vantage left Oschersleben on Tuesday on its direct way to Italy to the kick-off event of the GT4 European Series in Monza.
