24-year-old Austrian David Griessner and 19-year-old Frenchman Jérémy Sarhy complete PROsport Performance’s squad for the GT4 European Series. Griessner/Sarhy as well as Swiss Florian Thoma (23) and Indian Akhil Rabindra (22) will drive the two new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the GT4 European Championship, which will start in already four weeks (12-14 April) in Monza, Italy, into the new season. PROsport Performance has won the drivers’ championship in 2013 and the driver and team title of the GT4 European Series in 2016. As official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR), the team from Wiesemscheid, Germany, near the Nürburgring also enters the two Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the new ADAC GT4 Germany, furthermore two Vantage GT3s in the ADAC GT Masters.
“We consciously rely on four young talents. That has always been part of the philosophy of PROsport Performance”, explains team principal Christoph Esser. “David Griessner has attracted our attention in the VLN long distance championship at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and Jérémy Sarhy is the youngest in the quartet, and as the second-best rookie in the French Porsche Carrera Cup, he has left his calling card.”
For the first time in 2006, David Griessner was on top of the podium as a Bambini karting driver. Three years later he became German amateur kart champion, before he entered the ADAC Formula Masters in 2011. Griessner, born on 3rd of September 1994 in Saalfelden, Austria, won his first touring car title in the ADAC ProCar with nine victories. From 2015, the student of law switched to the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the VLN long distance championship and triumphed last season both in the driver and in the junior championship of the BMW M235i Racing Cup.
“After winning the BMW M235i Racing Cup, it was a logical step for me to switch to GT4. The GT4 European Series is a strong championship, in which both the qualities of driver and team are in demand. I already know PROsport Performance from the VLN, so the contact came about. Their GT4 experience is enormous, I can only profit from that”, says David Griessner. “And the beautiful Aston Martin Vantage GT4 is the icing on the cake of this strong package.”
Jérémy Sarhy, despite only 19 years already, has twelve years of experience in motorsport. Already in 2007, his career began in a classic way in karting, and following various titles in national championships, he moved 2016 into the French Renault Clio Cup. Right from the start, Sarhy, born in Bordeaux on 4th of August 1999, was the best rookie. After fourth place overall the following year, he rose to the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2018. In the team of Sebastien Loeb Racing he competed the hard-fought one-make cup as team-mate of Valentin Hasse-Clot, who in 2019 also competes in the team of PROsport Performance with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters. Hasse-Clot and Sarhy finished the Porsche season in fifth and sixth respectively with Sarhy as the second best rookie of the cup.
“A new team, a new car, a new team-mate, a new racing series with new circuits – a really big challenge awaits me and I’m really looking forward to it. Just the sight of the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 really motivates me – what a great racing car”, says Jérémy Sarhy. “PROsport Performance knows the GT4 European Series through and through, which definitely benefits me and my team-mate.”
Jérémy Sarhy and David Griessner will collect first experiences with the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 during a test in Barcelona. At the four-day test on the Grand Prix circuit in Spain, which lasts until 15th of March, PROsport Performance is using the test car of Aston Martin Racing (AMR).
The six races of the GT4 European Series include the opening event in Monza (Italy/12-14 April) Brands Hatch (England/04-05 May), Paul Ricard (France/31 May to 02 June), Misano (Italy/28-30 June) and Zandvoort (Netherlands/12-14 July) and the final from 30 August to 01 September at the Nürburgring, the home circuit of PROsport Performance.
