Frenchman Jérémie Lesoudier and Swiss Florian Thoma form the first pair of PROpeak Performance drivers in the new ADAC GT4 Germany. The two 23-year-old talents will race in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 six races of the new race series during the ADAC Masters weekend. The first two one-hour races with a driver change at halftime will held at the season opener on 27/28 April in Oschersleben near Magdeburg, Germany. Florian Thoma even runs double-track because the Swiss will not only start with Jérémie Lesoudier in the ADAC GT4 Germany but also with PROpeak Performance and together with the Indian Akhil Rabindra in the GT4 European Series. Last week, the team’s five already confirmed GT4 drivers successfully completed their first test in Barcelona, Spain, with the Aston Martin Vantage GT4. With Florian Thoma and Akhil Rabindra as well as David Griessner (Austria) and Jérémy Sarhy (France), the two driver pairings for the GT4 European Championship have already been determined, for the ADAC GT4 Germany so far Lesoudier/Thoma are confirmed. In addition, PROpeak Performance – under this team name PROsport Performance will concentrate its Aston Martin missions – as the official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR), will enter two Vantage GT3s in the ADAC GT Masters. The brand new cars will be driven by AMR factory driver Maxime Martin (Belgium) and record winner Daniel Keilwitz (Germany) as well as Hugo de Sadeleer (Switzerland) and Valentin Hasse-Clot (France).
“With Jérémie Lesoudier and Florian Thoma we already have the third young duo. We are delighted to be able to bring these promising talents to the starting line with Aston Martin”, commented team principal Christoph Esser. “We know Florian from the ADAC TCR Germany. When switching from front-wheel-driven touring cars to rear-wheel-driven GT sports cars, he can only benefit from the double track time of two series. For Jérémie, the ADAC GT Masters is the declared goal, the new ADAC GT4 Germany is just the right build-up program.”
Jérémie Lesoudier, born on 14 March 1996 in Thil, southern France, has been continuing the family tradition since 2010 – grandfather, father and an uncle were also racing drivers – in the third generation. After first successes in karting, he went to Spain in 2015 and was four times on the podium in the Junior Championship with the Seat Leon Cup Racer. In 2016 he won three podium places in the rookie classification of the French Renault Clio Cup, and in the following year he shone in the Spanish Renault Clio Cup becoming the runner-up overall and winner of the rookie classification. In 2018, Jérémie Lesoudier proved his talent in the French Porsche Carrera Cup with one victory and four podium positions in the rookie classification.
“Since my first contact with Christoph Esser, I feel like I’m in a new motorsport family. The trust of Aston Martin underlines their ambitions and their professionalism. Being able to represent Aston Martin in the ADAC GT4 Germany is a great honor for me”, says Jérémie Lesoudier. “I am confident that the new Vantage GT4, the team as well as my team-mate Florian Thoma and I will do well in the new ADAC GT4 Germany, even though the competition will be very strong.”
Also Florian Thoma, born on 13 December 1995 in Biel in Switzerland, began his career in karting in 2003. He knows the ADAC Masters Weekend already very well, because in 2017 and 2018 he competed in the ADAC TCR Germany. On his debut weekend, he celebrated his first TCR victory, and he also opened the 2018 season with a TCR victory at the 24h race in Dubai.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenges of participating in two race series. This is a hammer program with a lot of races and a lot of track time – together with Jérémie and Akhil, who are as ambitious as me”, says Florian Thoma. “At the test in Barcelona I drove the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for the first time and was thrilled from the beginning. Together with PROpeak Performance, this was a promising start in every respect. I cannot wait to get back into the car. “
In addition to the opening event in Oschersleben, Germany (24-26 April), the new ADAC GT4 Germany will be racing at the Red Bull Ring in Austria (07-09 June), at Zandvoort in the Netherlands (09-11 August), at the Nürburgring in Germany (16-18 August), at Hockenheim in Germany (13-15 September) and at the Sachsenring in Germany (27-29 September).
