When on 27/28 April in Oschersleben, Germany, the first two races of the ADAC GT Masters will be held, a new era begins for PROsport Performance. The team from Wiesemscheid, Germany, near the Nürburgring is not only an official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR) and thus for the first time with factory support at the start, but also for the first time the team enters the top-class and professional competition of the “league of super sports cars” which is one of the strongest racing series for GT3 sports cars in the world. The team has adapted its structures for this great challenge. The two Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will compete in the ADAC GT Masters and the two Vantage GT4 in the ADAC GT4 Germany as well as in the GT4 European Series under the new team name PROpeak Performance. All other activities such as in the VLN long distance championship Nürburgring continue to be performed under the well-known team name PROsport Performance.
On 6 November 2018, PROsport Performance was named the official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR). As one of only five teams worldwide and one of only three teams in Europe, the team around Christoph Esser enjoys the highest level of support from AMR. Furthermore, AMR works driver Maxime Martin (Belgium), otherwise racing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), will compete in the ADAC GT Masters together with Daniel Keilwitz (Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany), the record winner and former champion, for PROpeak Performance.
“PROsport Performance has reached a new level with the direct collaboration with a car manufacturer, writing a new chapter in team history with the Aston Martin Vantage missions. Therefore, in future, there will be a separation between the factory-supported engagement and all other activities”, says Christoph Esser, managing director of PROsport Performance GmbH, adding: “Peak stands for top and maximum – that is exactly our ambitious goal that drives us: We want to reach the top and the maximum with Aston Martin. “
The name PROsport has been inextricably linked with Christoph Esser since 1988. In 2006 he founded the motorsport team PROsport Racing, followed in 2010 by PROsport Performance GmbH. In 2013, the team from the Nürburgring won the first international title with Porsche, winning the drivers’ classification in the GT4 European Championship. Three years later, the team also achieved a double victory in the team and driver´s championship, racing with Porsche again. In 2018, PROsport Performance triumphed with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the team and drivers’ standings of the European 24h GT Series and ultimately conquered the “Championship of the Continents” in this GT3 race series. The team was also able to celebrate the title in the ADAC TCR Germany rookie classification with an Audi RS3 LMS TCR. In addition, more than 50 class victories have been recorded for PROsport Performance at the 24h Nürburgring and in the VLN long distance championship Nürburgring, most of which were achieved with Porsche sports cars.
