PROsport Performance will start as an official Race Partner of Aston Martin Racing into the 2019 motorsport season. The team based in Wiesemscheid, near the Nürburgring in Germany, has struck an important relationship with Aston Martin Racing, which will see it receive the highest level of partner support through 2019. PROsport Performance will run two new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters and will also be competing in both the GT4 European Series and the new ADAC GT4 Germany with two Aston Martin Vantage GT4s. The cooperation between Aston Martin Racing (AMR) based in Banbury, England, and PROsport Performance GmbH, founded by Christoph Esser in 2006, is based with a long term strategy in mind.
“The introduction of the new Vantage to GT3 and GT4 regulations is the right time for Aston Martin Racing to expand the motorsport activities. Germany is a core market for sports cars and furthermore a motorsport stronghold for GT racing cars. Therefore, we are very pleased to welcome PROsport Performance as the official Race Partner of Aston Martin Racing. Christoph Esser and his team have great experience and great ambition. This is a good basis to be successful in the ADAC GT Masters with GT3 and GT4 as well as in the GT4 European Series,” says David King, President of Aston Martin Racing.
“For us, it is an honour to be allowed to compete with and for Aston Martin,” says Christoph Esser, Managing Director of PROsport Performance GmbH. “At the same time, it is a big challenge, but we like to face it and approach it with great motivation. This strong commitment from Aston Martin Racing represents the logical next step in the development of PROsport Performance. We look forward to a close partnership and can´t wait to get the new Vantage onto the racetrack. ”
The new Aston Martin Vantage is the latest GT racing car to emerge from the famous British sports car manufacturer founded in 1913. The new Aston Marin Vantage GTE made its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The GT3 model was unveiled at Le Mans in June and was given its competitive race debut in the eighth round of the VLN Longdistance Championship Nürburgring on October 6th on the legendary Nordschleife, the world-famous “Green Hell”. The Vantage is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged engine which produces approximately 500 bhp depending on boost variables and BOP configuration. PROsport Performance will take over its first two Vantage race cars very early in 2019 to begin its test programme as soon as possible.
So far, it is still open which drivers will join PROsport Performance for the three series. There are two cockpits with two drivers each available for each series, the ADAC GT Masters as well as the ADAC GT4 Germany and the GT4 European Series. However, it is stipulated that one of the two Vantage GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters will be manned by two factory drivers of Aston Martin Racing. “Two factory drivers mean a high level of driving quality in the hard-fought ADAC GT Masters and also support the important know-how transfer,” explains team principal Christoph Esser, adding: “The driver market is right now gaining momentum at the end of the season, so with our new commitment we have a good chance of winning strong driver pairings that are capable of making this project a success together with us.” PROsport Performance will also be part of the “AMR Young Driver Academy 2019”.
The championships in which PROsport Performance will participate with Aston Martin and the support of AMR engineers are some of the most prestigious and popular of its kind. Since 2007, the ADAC GT Masters is established as the “League of Supercars”, representing a colorful grid with more than 30 GT3 sports cars of nearly all well-known manufacturers. Two races each lasting one hour each with a driver change to the middle of the race ensure top-class motorsport at seven events, much to the delight of the many spectators on site and at the TV screens of the live broadcasts of the German channel SPORT1 as well as the European-wide TV coverage. In the ADAC GT Masters, professional racers of the categories platinum, gold and silver as well as amateurs (bronze) are allowed to share a cockpit, which creates additional excitement, with equal opportunities being created through additional weights.
The ADAC GT4 Germany will celebrate its premiere in 2019 with six events as part of the ADAC GT Masters. The GT4 series takes over the successful Masters racing format with two races over an hour with driver changes to the middle of the race. The ADAC GT4 Germany is aimed primarily at young talents and ambitious amateur racers, so that only drivers with silver and bronze status are eligible to start.
Since 2006, the GT4 European Series is held with seven races on famous European circuits. Also with this international predicate of the automobile world federation FIA, two drivers mixed from gold, silver or bronze status can share a cockpit.
In the GT4 European Series, PROsport Performance celebrated a double victory in 2016. Thus, the team of Christoph Esser won not only the team´s championship, but also the driver title with Joerg Viebahn and Peter Terting. The own-developed and homologated Porsche Cayman PRO4 impressively demonstrated its qualities in the hard-fought GT4.
In the 2018 season, PROsport Performance has already won three titles. In the overall standings of the 24h GT European Championship, the Americans Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub and Joe Foster have taken the driver title in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 with PROsport winning the team title. In addition, the team around Christoph Esser captured the rookie championship in the ADAC TCR Germany with the only 17-year-old talent Max Hesse.
It is almost logical that the racing team which is based at Wiesemscheid just a stone’s throw away from the Nürburgring, scored numerous victories with different race cars especially on its home track. In the world-famous “Green Hell”, PROsport Performance enjoys a good reputation as an instructor of international and well-known racers to obtain the required special permit for the Nordschleife. Furthermore, PROsport is at home on many racetracks in Europe and has already successfully entered races in Australia, the USA and Dubai.
In addition to races, the 2010 adopted Pirelli Race Service Germany with exclusive tires support of the ADAC GT Masters and the ADAC Formula 4 as well as track days, driver coaching and car hosting are among the business areas of the company of Christoph Esser, who himself as a racing driver could achieve several overall victories especially on the legendary Nordschleife.
